With your premium pet mug you get
- Full detail pet portrait ie. fur coloring, texture, eye and nose detail
- Your choice of portrait of left or right handed mug left handed, the portrait faces out when holding with your left hand. Right handed, the portrait faces out when holding with your right hand. The default if you don't choose is a right handed mug
- Option to include more than just a "bust" including full body portrait, whether it's sitting, standing up, laying down, or in action

Option to include objects including in your pet's mouth, next to them, or around them in a pattern, etc.
- Signature laminated handle. This is a signature handle style that I previously included on all of my pet mugs, but is now reserved for the premium mug or as an upgraded option for standard and simple mugs. The laminated handle is made by taking a long, thin handle, which is folded in half to create a tiered and slightly textured handle that is incredibly comfortable to hold, and an interesting extra bit of detail
- Special detail on the bottom of the mug. Whether your pet has crossed the rainbow bridge and you want to include dates as a memorial, or if you want to include a handwritten note to the recipient on the mug, we can discuss options including using your own handwriting that I inscribe in scrupulous detail.
- Thrown, handled, and finished 100% by yours truly - Emily VanderMey. I have a throwing assistant helping me with the standard and simple mugs, but these mugs are made 100% by my two hands.
Each pet portrait mug is as one of a kind as your cherished pet. Your mug is custom-made from start to finish. Inspired by photos and stories you share with me, I will hand draw your pet’s portrait, send you sketches and work with you until you feel I have captured their likeness just right! From there I hand draw the portrait into the slip which leaves a slightly textured drawing similar to an engraving once the piece is finished.
I love drawing portraits for the Premium Pet Mugs as I get to spend more time with you and your pet, capturing your pet’s unique personality in a more detailed and expressive line style.
Each mug holds 12-14 ounces of your favorite beverage and as each mug is handmade they vary slightly in size, but if you buy two or more I will do my best to make them as similar as possible! I cannot guarantee size matches for mug re-orders, unfortunately.
Order Turnaround
Order turnaround time is typically 6 weeks. I am accepting Rush orders for a $30 fee. You can select "Rush" on the post checkout form when you submit your photos. Rush turnaround time varies depending on current order volume. Contact me if you have and specific requirements and I'll work with you to the best of my ability to get the order delivered in time.
What I need from you
2-3 really good photos of your pet. I would also love a brief description of your pet’s personality as represented in your pics. This ensures I'm able to draw all those adorable features that make your best bud look like themself.
You’ll receive a confirmation email after you place your order, which will include a link to my image upload form. From this form you can add details about your pet, their name, and select standard or rush order. Please fill out a separate form for each mug you have ordered. If you are including two pets on the same mug, you can upload those together in the same form unless they look very similar!
